Steve Sanders and Phil Ransbottom are two Florida natives that grew up in the same neighborhood in Ormond Beach, a small town just north of the "World's Most Famous Beach" - Daytona Beach. After 30 years of tailgating together, they started talking about the idea of turning their passion into a business, and the idea of SandyBottom’s Food Truck on Daytona Beach was born. Known as "Social" Steve and "Sweet" Phil, they are perfect partners. "Social" Steve, who never met a stranger, handles the marketing and business side of things, while "Sweet" Phil, a master when it comes to creating delicious food, handles the menu and cooking.
Steve is a Florida Native and Daytona Beach Local, and Mainland High graduate who went to University of South Florida and studied Marketing and Management. Steve put himself through college working at Publix Supermarkets. After receiving his Bachelors degree from USF, he stayed on with Publix where he excelled, working his way up into management and retiring with 34 years with the company. After retirement, he started looking for a new adventure that would satisfy his passion for business and marketing, but allow him to spend more time with his daughter and help coach her in softball. That’s when he and Phil started planning SandyBottom's Food Truck in Daytona Beach.
Phil is also a Florida Native and Daytona Beach Local. Unlike Steve, he graduated from Seabreeze High in Ormond Beach, and left the Daytona Beach area for college, graduating with an Education degree from Troy State, he later earned his Masters Degree from the fine Central Florida institution, Stetson University in West Volusia County. During and after his education, he pursued his love of cooking in the kitchens of numerous restaurants. "Sweet" Phil continues that pursuit by being the brains behind the food in the SandyBottom's Food Truck in Daytona Beach. Phil has also been a Tailgate Master for many years at Gator games, including over 20 years hosting a huge tailgate at the Annual Florida/Georgia game, also known as the "The World's Largest Cocktail Party." Phil was also a founding member and host of the "Turn 3 Tailgators" for many years and numerous races at the Daytona International Speedway.
